Rules of Competition
General Provisions
- Periodic competitions will be held in the categories of monochrome prints, color prints, and slides.
- Only McLean Photography Club members are eligible to compete.
- Topics may be assigned.
- A single image can only be entered in one category in a given competition year.
- Members may enter as many as six images with no more than two images in any one category.
Categories
- Monochrome Prints - All prints must be mounted, must be 5 x 7 or larger. (No frames)
- Color Prints - All prints must be mounted, must be 5 x 7 or larger. (No frames)
- Slides - A dot or other mark must be placed In the lower left corner of the mount as the slide is held in viewing position.
Classes of Competition
- There will be a Novice and Advanced Class for each category.
- Any member may elect to enter the Advanced Class. Upon doing so, however, the member becomes permanently ineligible to compete In the Novice Class in that category.
- Within a given category, members are automatically promoted to Advanced if during any previous club year, they place first, second, or third on three or more occasions
Awards
- Two (2) or three (3) entries; First Place.
- Four (4) or five (5) entries: First and Second Places.
- Six (6) or more entries: 25 percent of all entries, with all fractions rounded upwards, from which First Second and Third places will be chosen and the remaining award winners will receive honorable mentions.
- No awards will be shared.
- Judges must make all awards specified by these rules
