Rules of Competition General Provisions

• Periodic competitions will be held in the categories of monochrome prints, color prints, and slides.
• Only McLean Photography Club members are eligible to compete.
• Topics may be assigned.
• A single image can only be entered in one category in a given competition year.
• Members may enter as many as six images with no more than two images in any one category.

Categories

• Monochrome Prints - All prints must be mounted, must be 5 x 7 or larger. (No frames)
• Color Prints - All prints must be mounted, must be 5 x 7 or larger. (No frames)
• Slides - A dot or other mark must be placed In the lower left corner of the mount as the slide is held in viewing position.

Classes of Competition

• There will be a Novice and Advanced Class for each category.
• Any member may elect to enter the Advanced Class. Upon doing so, however, the member becomes permanently ineligible to compete In the Novice Class in that category.
• Within a given category, members are automatically promoted to Advanced if during any previous club year, they place first, second, or third on three or more occasions

Awards

• Two (2) or three (3) entries; First Place.
• Four (4) or five (5) entries: First and Second Places.
• Six (6) or more entries: 25 percent of all entries, with all fractions rounded upwards, from which First Second and Third places will be chosen and the remaining award winners will receive honorable mentions.
• No awards will be shared.
• Judges must make all awards specified by these rules
