Joe Miller's judging seminar -- open now to include all those in camera
clubs who want to learn more about the judging process itself.

Seminar on Camera Club Judging

On Sunday, September 16, 2007, Joe will offer a Seminar on Camera Club
Judging to be held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in his Center for the
Photographic Arts. The purpose of the seminar is to improve the
knowledge and understanding of camera club competitions. Among the
subjects covered will be what a judge should do, should not do, and
the criteria a judge should use when judging. The seminar will
examine different levels of competitions -- monthly, end-of-year,
and exhibitions.

Who should attend the Seminar on Camera Club Judging? Those who
believe they have the potential (and the desire) to become a camera
club judge, VPs of competitions, and other officers/club members who
are interested in learning more about the judging process.

Due to the thorough and comprehensive nature of the seminar, enrollment
will be limited to 12 participants. The cost will be $70 per person. It
is expected this seminar will fill quickly so don't delay in registering
your interest for this unique educational opportunity.

Northern Virginia Community College:

Enrollment is open for the Fall Semester at NoVA.
Our Photography program on the Alexandria campus
offers a wonderful range of single-credit and three-credit college
courses in both digital and traditional film photography.

This year we will also offer digital instruction at the new Arlington
campus in Ballston.

Tuition is extremely reasonable, especially for Virginia residents.

Classes begin in the third week of August. Students may enroll online
before then, or come to the first class and enroll online during that
first week. Some classes do fill up quickly, so I recommend enrolling
now.

More information, including a list of courses scheduled for the Fall,
can be found at our website:

Registration can be completed on the main website via NovaConnect:

I will be happy to answer any questions by email (pagec@aol.com is my

Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP)

My name is Tom McElvy, and I am the President of the Virginia
Beach Photography Club (http://vbpc.org) I received the email
below from the folks at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography,
and they asked me to pass it onto other clubs.

This presents a unique opportunity for many of us to enhance our
knowledge. Personally, I have wanted to take one of their weekend
events for years, but the closest they have been to the East Coast
recently was Indiana...a mere 16 hour drive! So you can imagine
how elated I was to hear about an event right here in our city.

Anyway, I spoke with the school, and I suggested that members (or
perhaps the board members) of the various clubs may be able to help
with the event. She seemed really pleased about that! So, let's
show them some of our good ol' Southern Hospitality!

If you know of other clubs in the state, please let me know so I
can pass this info on to them as well! If we have a good turnout
for the event, I am sure they will be inclined to have more in our area!

Thanks for your time, and if you have any ideas or suggestions,
please, feel free to contact me!

Subject: RMSP Weekend Date Announcement - Viriginia Beach

Dear Virginia Beach Photography Club Representative,

Greetings from Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP)! I am excited
to inform you we are bringing one of our RMSP Weekend events to Virginia
Beach on February 23-24, 2008. At each RMSP Weekend we offer 15 classes
to choose from, a professional critique session and great door prizes. At
most events you will have the opportunity to visit with industry
representatives and check out their display tables. These events are
appropriate for photography enthusiasts or curious beginners, beginning
through intermediate amateur photographers are welcome.

In response to requests made by camera club representatives in the past,
we are notifying camera club communities as soon as we have confirmed
program dates in their area. This early announcement is an effort to
avoid conflicts with events that are being planned or sponsored by your
camera club or photography group in 2008. Camera clubs continue to be
an important part of RMSP Weekends with their participation in our events
around the country. We value your participation at our events and hope
to see many of your members in 2008!

In the fall we begin sending brochures and group savings codes to camera
clubs so that members can receive the maximum savings available when
attending RMSP Weekends. To be sure to receive a group savings code
to pass on to your camera club or photography group of five members or
more, please email Bob McGowan at bobm@rmsp.com. Please include your
name, camera club or group name, mailing address and number of members
in your club or group. Also include your club’s monthly meeting dates
so that we can be sure that you receive your packet in time to distribute
at a regular meeting (packets are usually distributed 2 to 3 months
before the event).

Detailed information about RMSP’s Weekend event in Virginia Beach,
including pricing, location, a schedule of classes and registration
options will be available on our Web site, www.rmsp.com in mid September.
If you have any questions in the meantime please don’t hesitate to call
me at (800) 394-7677.

Sincerely,
Michelle Lousen
